The Faith C. Webber Foundation, Inc. of Shelby, North Carolina is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization founded in 2021 whose mission is to promote and support educational, vocational, human services, cultural arts, and community development activities in the local and greater surrounding areas. In addition, the Foundation endeavors to support other organizations and entities who share a similar vision.

FCW Foundation, Inc. in its infancy has established the Faith C. Webber Memorial Scholarship awarded each year given to selected students on an annual basis from each of the five high schools who demonstrate a commitment to higher education and social and human services advocacy. The scholarships are awarded in memory of Faith C. Webber an employee of Cleveland County Department of Social Services who in 2018 was killed in an automobile accident while enroute to conduct a client visit.

Since 2019, a total in excess of $25,000 has been awarded to graduating seniors. Our goal is to be able to award scholarships at each of our County’s high schools in the future so that more young people can fulfill their educational and vocational goals and aspirations.

Our primary fundraising activities have included a concert held in CY 2019 at the Malcolm Brown Auditorium featuring the Winston-Salem State University Choir of which Ms. Webber was a former member and in CY 2020 a “Sneaker Ball” held at the Neal Senior Center in Shelby. These events were held during the month of February to coincide with and to commemorate the February 14th birth date of Faith C. Webber. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic we were not able to conduct an annual fundraising event in February 2021 or February 2022. However, plans are on-going to continue the annual Sneaker Ball in February as our primary event!

Future endeavors and activities will seek to promote and to support educational achievement, social and human services activities, the cultural arts, vocational/employment initiatives, and community development activities. Our motto is “making possibilities real.”
